Rodborough School's Golden Triangle Project

Rodborough School, just down the road, in Milford, Surrey, sent me their research document The Surrey Arts and Crafts Movement Researched by Pupils at Rodborough School just in time for Christmas, and their accompanying film, The Golden Triangle Film.  It is a really impressive document and film which summarises their research into the Arts and Crafts artists and architects operating between Guildford, Farnham and Haslemere, and was supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Godfrey Blount, Francis Troup and the Haslemere Peasant Industries were covered in the project.

Not only did the pupils visit lots of great local Arts and Crafts places such as Watts Gallery, Haslemere Educational Museum, Munstead Wood garden and St Christopher's Church, they also made some beautiful wood carved benches and a new Gertrude Jekyll inspired garden for the school.

The work has been touring the local museums, with the project work being held at Godalming Museum or being obtainable from Rodborough School.  It is really nice to see local children learning so much about the history of the local area, well done!

  1. Lucky children to have been shown the Arts and Crafts treasures all around them.

Is it possible to buy a copy of their research/film from the school?

  4. The Golden Triangle Project has been very important to show how the Arts and Crafts Movement has shaped not only our built heritage but the landscape setting within Surrey. The ever increasing pressure for more development needs to have an understanding of the past to enhance our future. sustainably.
