What's the time Mr King? 2014

Happy New Year.

I thought I had better post this before the details disappear.  This gold pocket watch was auctioned by Ewbanks, perhaps in September 2011, with the description:

"Gentleman's 18ct gold open faced pocket watch by Daniel Buckney (Maker to The Admiralty, London), with a crown wind movement, sweep second hand, white enamel dial, Roman numerals and signed and numbered circa 1899; together with a dress watch chain stamped 9ct on the T-bar and 15ct on the links. Length 29cm, weight 17grams

PROVENANCE; This watch belonged to Joseph King (1860-1943) and was given to the present vendor by his widow"

Joseph King's watch
sold by Ewbanks

It was sold for £1,300, higher than the estimate of £800-£1,200.

  2. Happy New Year! It would be nice to catch up with you.

I think it was the second wife, Helena, who gave the watch away when she was a widow. Let's see if the auctioneer is able to help!
